Dog Car Barriers & Safety Gear
Questions we get asked
Is the Car Seatbelt crash-tested?
No, and we would rather say so plainly than let you assume otherwise. It is a restraint that stops your dog climbing into the footwell or onto your lap while you drive, not crash protection, so it is not a substitute for a crash-tested harness or a properly secured crate if that is what you need. What it does well is keep an unsettled dog in one place on the school run, the vet trip and the Saturday drive to the beach.
Will the Car Fence fit my car?
It comes in two sizes, 152 x 143 cm and 162 x 153 cm, in Grey or Black, and suits interior widths up to roughly 162 cm, which covers cars, SUVs and most small to midsize vehicles. It goes in with stretchy bands and plastic hooks, so there are no tools and nothing to drill. Measure across your cabin at its widest point before choosing a size, and know that the mesh folds away when you want the space back.
Can I clip the Car Seatbelt to my dog's collar?
Please don't. Always attach it to a harness, because a collar sends every bit of force straight onto your dog's neck. There is one length rather than sizes, adjustable to fit small through large dogs, and it clips into your car's existing seatbelt buckle or loops over a headrest. Six colours to pick from: purple, pink, blue, army green, red and black.
Will either of these keep my seats clean?
Partly, and it is worth knowing which part. The Car Fence keeps your dog behind it, so muddy paws and shed hair stay in the back rather than on your front seats, and the mesh wipes down with a damp cloth and mild detergent, no bleach or abrasive cleaners. The Car Seatbelt limits how far your dog can move but does not cover upholstery. Neither is a seat cover, and we don't stock covers or hammocks.
